Amy Winehouse, 27, found dead at her London flat after suspected 'drug overdose'

By SARAH BULL

Passing: Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home this afternoon

Troubled singer had a long battle with drink and drugs

London Ambulance Service found singer at 3.54pm but unable to revive her

She was 'beyond help' according to Sky sources

Autopsy could take place 'within next 24 hours'

Comes after Winehouse was booed off stage after shambolic Serbian show
Amy Winehouse has been found dead at her home in London.

The scene: Amy was pronounced dead this afternoon after emergency services arrived at her house in north London

The Back To Black singer was found at the property by emergency services at 3.54pm, and it's believed Winehouse's death was due to a suspected drug overdose.

Winehouse was apparently 'beyond help' when paramedics arrived, according to Sky sources.

Sources have also claimed Winehouse's death was due to a drug overdose.

Two ambulance crews arrived at the scene within five minutes and a paramedic on a bicycle also attended, according to a spokeswoman.

'Sadly the patient had died,' she added.

Tragic: Winehouse's body is seen being removed from her home

A statement from Winehouse's U.S. record label read: 'We are deeply saddened at the sudden loss of such a gifted musician, artist and performer.

'Our prayers go out to Amy's family, friends and fans at this difficult time.'

In a statement, the Metropolitan Police said: 'Police were called by London Ambulance Service to an address in Camden Square NW1 shortly before 16.05hrs today, Saturday 23 July, following reports of a woman found deceased.

'On arrival officers found the body of a 27-year-old female who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Drama: Members of the press and local residents watch as Winehouse's body is taken to the van

'Enquiries continue into the circumstances of the death. At this early stage it is being treated as unexplained.’

A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in a press conference this evening that no cause of death had yet been confirmed.

He said: 'I am aware of reports of a suspected drugs overdose, but I would like to reremphaise that no post-mortem has yet taken place and it would be inapproporaite to speculate on the cause of death.

Last public appearance: Amy joined goddaughter Dionne Bromfield on stage during the iTunes festival on Wednesday night

'The death of any person is a sad time of friends and family especially for someone known nationally and internationally like Amy Winehouse. My sympathy extends not only to her family but also to her millions of fans across the world.'

A spokesman for the late singer said: 'Everyone involved with Amy is shocked and devastated.

'Our thoughts are with her family and friends. The family will issue a statement when ready.'

It has also been claimed on gossip website RadarOnline.com that Winehouse's autopsy could take place within the next 24 hours.

Healthy: Amy was spotted out in London looking healthier earlier this month

A Scotland Yard spokesman is quoted by the website as saying: 'The postmortem has not been scheduled yet but it is unlikely to take place before tomorrow.

'In the case of a murder it can be done within hours but this is not the case so tomorrow or even Monday is more likely in these circumstances.'

Mourning: Floral tributes are left outside Amy's house as news breaks of her death

Winehouse had been seen with her goddaughter Dionne Bromfield earlier this week as the teenager took to the stage at the iTunes festival.

She refused to join in for Mama Said, but did support the 14-year-old with a few dance moves before urging the crowd to buy Dionne's new album Good For The Soul.
A source said: 'Amy staggered onstage and grabbed the mic to beg the crowd to buy her protege’s new album.'

Winehouse's appearance at the concert came after she cancelled her European tour following a disastrous performance in June when she stumbled onto the stage in Belgrade and gave an incoherent performance appearing very disorientated and removed from reality.

Heartfelt: One note from a local resident states how much the singer will be missed in her local community

The singer featured on the Sunday Times Rich List earlier this year with an estimated net worth of around £6million.

During her career, Winehouse won awards including five Grammy Awards, a Q Music Award for Best Album for Back To Black and a World Music Award in 2008 for World's Best Selling Pop/Rock Female Artist.

Family: Amy with her father Mitch, to whom she was incredibly close, and her mother Janis

Shambolic: Amy was booed off stage during a shambolic performance in Belgrade in June

Former love: Amy with her ex-husband Blake Fielder-Civil

Troubled: Amy battled drink and drug addictions during her short life

Weight worries: Amy also caused concern with her shrinking frame, and looked gaunt back in 2008 (right)

Success: Amy performed via video link at the Grammy Awards in 2008 after winning five awards

Musical stylings: Amy caused a stir with her first album Frank in 2004, and followed it with Back To Black in 2006

Love The Way You Lie down! Rihanna falls flat on her face as she takes embarrassing stage tumble

By CHRIS JOHNSON

Ooh Na Na: Rihanna trips on stage as she performed her hit song What's My Name in Edmonton, Canada, last Wednesday, one of the stops on her Loud world tour

Rihanna may have quite justifiably asked 'What's My Name?' after face-planting floor in this embarrassing stage fall.

The Barbadian singer was appropriately singing the hit song as she took a tumble in front of thousands of fans.

The 23-year-old star was entertaining a 16,000-strong crowd in Edmonton, Canada, on her Loud world tour when she lost her footing.

Going: The singer was wearing dangerously high heels for her performance

However, ever the professional, the racy singer quickly sprung back into action as she tottered on dangerously high heels.

The incident happened last Wednesday on the fourth night of Rihanna's six-date stop in Canada.

The Love The Way You Lie singer returned to Los Angeles yesterday, just in time to make it for the BET Awards after party.

Going... gone: Rihanna falls to the floor after losing her footing

However she arrived only to face more embarrassment, after it emerged an trophy at the show which had initially been awarded to her was actually given in error and should have gone to ex-boyfriend Chris Brown.

The farce started when television personality Tiffany Greene, along with 106 & Park hosts Terrence J. and Rocsi took to the stage to present the Viewers' Choice Award.
Greene look confused as she proclaimed the winner to be Chris Brown for his song Look At Me Now.

Back to business: But she quickly sprung back into action

But then Terrence quickly stepped in an said: 'I'm sorry, it's Rihanna for What's My Name... this is awkward.'

Rapper Drake, who collaborated on the track with Rihanna, then came to the stage to accept the award.

He said: 'This is awkward,' before making a short acceptance speech and leaving the stage.

However around 30 minutes later, at the end of the show, the main host Kevin Hart clarified the matter by saying Chris Brown was in fact the winner.

Back to blonde for Lady Gaga as she ditches the green wig at charity concert in Japan

By GEORGINA LITTLEJOHN

Back to blonde: Lady Gaga ditched the green wig she has been sporting for the last few weeks in favour of her trademark platinum blonde lock as she performed in Japan

She's worn all different colours and shades in her hair since hitting the big time, but Lady Gaga knows deep down that blondes definitely have more fun.

Having sported an aquamarine wig for the past few weeks, the singer decided to go back to her trademark platinum blonde look.

The Born This Way singer came on stage at the MTV Video Music Aid Japan at the Makuhari Messe Arena near Tokyo tonight.

Spiderwoman: Gaga, sporting green hair extensions as bunches, started her set trapped in what looked like a giant web...

Her hair had been braided and put into two buns on her head, her fringe cut short on her forehead.

She started the gig with aquamarine hair extensions on her bunches as she opened her set trapped in what looked like a giant spider web.

Dressed in a sparkly sequinned bra and long skirt with a split up each thigh, Gaga launched into her song The Edge of Glory as she pulled and tugged at the web.

... before breaking free and leaving her aquamarine strands behind

As she broke free, she ripped off the green extensions and joined her dancers as she finished the song.

Then, almost sneaking round the stage, she climbed some stairs and stood at her piano, which was made up to look like a giant spider, and launched into an acoustic version of Born This Way before rejoining her dancers for the full dance version of the hit song.

It was good to see Gaga back to blonde again even if her hair suffers as a result.

Where'd you get those peepers? Gaga takes off her sunglasses as she leaves the MTV concert to show off eye make-up that looks like eyes

After her performance, Gaga spoke to the press on the red carpet in an odd ensemble that made her look like a pearly queen.

She also showed off eye make up that looked like dark eyes as she posed for pictures and waved to fans.

Earlier, Gaga had rejoiced when she heard the news that her home state of New York passed a law making gay marriage legal.

She took to her Twitter page and wrote: 'I can't stop crying. We did it kids.

Rejoice New York, and propose. We did it!' the star added in a further tweet. 'The revolution is ours to fight for love, justice + equality.'

Glaston-buried: Fans drown in sea of mud and the music hasn't even started yet

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Quagmire: A festival-goer carefully walks through a puddle at the Glastonbury festival in Somerset today

Festival fans were contending with muddy mayhem at Glastonbury today after yesterday's torrential downpours turned the 900-acre site into a quagmire.

Every inch of Worthy Farm has become a mud bath as early arrivals gear up for the beginning of the main event tomorrow.

Welly-clad music fans put on brave faces despite hundreds of tents flooding and treacherous conditions underfoot.

Desperate measures: Site workers try to suck mud from the market areas close to the Pyramid Stage in an attempt to dry them before the main event begins tomorrow

In for a penny... Tom Wilder, 17, from Kent, gets into the festival spirit and performs a dramatic slide in the Glastonbury Festival mud

Diving face down through Britain's biggest mudbath, teenage reveller Tom Wilder ensured the Glastonbury cheers started early.

Egged on by his mates, 17-year-old student Tom, from Kent, performed headlong dives on demand to cheer up arrivals trudging through the sodden 900-acre site.

Countless efforts left him caked in mud from head to toe, with dairy farm sludge stuck in the braces on his teeth.

But he declared with a grin: 'If I run out of clothes, I'll just do it naked.'
His dives received roars of approval from hundreds of onlookers along with the group of friends he was camping with.

Best friend Callum Burgess, also 17, said: 'I'm supposed to share a tent with him but he can sleep outside. Look at the state of him.'

Clouds cleared over the Pilton hills last night, but the rain returned this morning and is due for a reprise later today - the best weather is not expected until Sunday.

Tent city: Aerial view of the Glastonbury Festival taken today. Over the course of a few days Glastonbury becomes the home to thousands of party goers creating a temporary town twice the size of the city of Bath

More than half the ticket-holders for the sold out event will have squelched their way to the site by tonight.

This year's event sees U2, Coldplay and Beyonce headline.

Treacherous conditions: Festival goers traipse through the mud around an ice cream van at the Glastonbury Festival

But early arrivals' efforts to secure prize camping spots were confounded by yesterday's monsoon-like conditions.

Hundreds of tents were flooded withing a few hours as torrential downpours began shortly after gates opened and fans began streaming in.

Campers hauling their bags and beers along the slippery thoroughfares were even told to pitch tents on hills to escape the worst of the wet conditions.

Marc Saunders, 31, from Bath, pitched his tent in driving rain with his five-year-old daughter Sam and wife Sarah.

He said: 'We say it's "go hard or go home". We're thrilled to be here, the place is magical - even in the mud.'

Go hard or go home: Muddy revellers chill out at the stone circle during the evening celebrations at Glastonbury last night

Another early arrival, 19-year-old James Street, from Belfast, was caked in mud from head to toe after slipping in a puddle.

He said: 'I'm drenched, obviously. But it's great just to be here with my pals. Legendary place, legendary line-up.

'We're not interested in the headliners - there's so much more to see.'

The first of the main acts take to the Pyramid Stage tomorrow, when the wet weather is expected to return.

Among a host of theatrical events at the site will be Glastonbury's own version of La Tomatina.

Other new elements for this year include The Spirit of 71 stage, with acts that played at the festival 40 years ago.

Beyonce, who fell in love with the Somerset festival after watching husband Jay-Z perform three years ago, is believed to have cleared her diary to party in Pilton over three days.

Rapper Jay-Z is even money with bookmakers Ladbrokes to join his wife on stage this Sunday.
